We made a tray out of acrylic to fit into the top of our fishtank. The piece of PVC in the middle is an overflow valve. There are four smaller drain holes drilled in the PVC just above the acrylic floor.

We have a repeat cycle timer that turns the water on every 20 minutes and runs for 20 seconds.

The box is filled with expanded clay balls because that is what we were told to do.

The seeds kept shifting to the bottom of the box so we got some coconut fiber to lay on top. The seeds grow nicely with the coconut fiber as a base. We tried the same thing with burlap in the back, but those seeds are too susceptible to rotting. Possibly the fabric is too hospitable for bacteria.
